Have been a patron of Miss Cheese for years, but it has fallen off alarmingly recently. Last Saturday, my husband and I popped in to grab drinks quickly before running to the library, and we were shocked at how run down and sad it looked when we walked in. We ordered our drinks, and some gentlemen came in and ordered souffle pancakes after us. There was only one employee on duty and he started their souffle pancakes....then disappeared into the back, while an abandoned tea beverage sat on the work counter. The employee finally came out from the curtained area to continue work on the pancakes, and still didn't start our drinks. At this point, it had been almost twenty minutes since we had ordered. I asked him to please make them now, since we were now cutting it close to library closing. He mumbled something about being the only employee on duty and finally made our drinks. We got them 27 minutes after ordering. The employee forgot to add boba to my husband's tea and forgot sweetener in mine. We only noticed on the road because we took the drinks and ran, trying to get to the library before closing. And by the time we got on the road, it was too late to get there before closing. (I

These fluffy pancakes were actually worth it! Super soft, airy, and melt in your mouth. A little pricey, but definitely worth trying at least once. The cream and syrup made them sooo good without being too sweet. Cute spot too! Also has a restroom, only available to costumers (: 🤍

I really wanted to love this spot because the concept is great and the gentleman working behind the counter was incredibly kind, but unfortunately, the food was a massive disappointment. • Deep Fried Taiyaki (Fish Waffle): I strongly advise avoiding the deep-fried version. It was clear the oil being used was old or reused; you could smell it from feet away. I tried a bite, but it was so unpleasant due to the oil quality that I couldn't even finish it. • If you really want the fish waffle, stick to the regular (non-fried) version. The Oolong tea was okay, but nothing special. • The cafe is in desperate need of a deep clean and a refresh. The tables, chairs, and walls are quite worn and don't feel particularly sanitary. While the service is friendly, the kitchen needs to address the oil quality immediately. Reusing old cooking oil is a major red flag. Until the cleanliness and food prep standards are updated, I won't be returning.

This was our first time having Japanese souffle pancakes outside of Japan so we were excited to see what we could get here in Southern California after a pretty amazing experience in Kyoto a few years back. Generally speaking, the food was good in a kind of okay atmosphere. They were out of a bunch of things on their menu (including Japanese Omelet and the Air Fried Plant-Based Popcorn Chicken Bowl) which we were really excited about trying...and glancing at the menu today a few weeks after our visit I see these items are still listed as "out of stock." In fact, their menu has 11 items listed that are "out of stock" so maybe they never really have them and should just take them off the menu to not disappoint folks hoping for some of these uniquely Japanese offerings they list. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired...it's a small space with some cute things to do (like a little pool table) but it does feel a little run down and a bit of a departure from the "clean and cute" vibe you'd expect from a place bringing you Japanese culture. Cute tea place. Came here twice while I was visiting LA. I ordered their grapefruit tea soda to just try and wasn't the biggest fan of it. I'm sure their other drinks are better. But I really enjoyed their souffle pancakes on my second visit. They were nice and fluffy. The one caveat is it takes a while to make, so my boyfriend and I didn't get our orders together. It took a while to get the second order so we shared the first one while we waited for the second. The environment is pretty nice, and they have some fun games you can play while you visit.
